Boosting the Immune System with Bacteria

The word "bacteria" can be frightening. However, there is actually "good" bacteria. Beneficial bacteria, called probiotics, are necessary to boost the immune system and defend against illness.

The "Pros" of Probiotics
* Help treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) 
* Treat diarrhea that is antibiotic- induced
* Treat Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

Foods Containing Probiotics
* Yogurt with "live cultures"
* Aged cheese, such as Gouda and Swiss
* Fermented milk, such as buttermilk and sour cream
* Pickled and fermented vegetables and fruits
