Eating Disorders Myths

 
All men and women have their own unique shape and size. There are many misconceptions and misinformation about eating disorders. Take these myths and realities into consideration when trying to understand eating disorders:

MYTH: Eating disorders are a choice
REALITY: Eating disorders are a serious condition that require medical treatment to overcome, it is not considered a choice.

MYTH: Only women have eating disorders
REALITY: Although women are in the majority of having eating disorders, men can be affected as well.

MYTH: Eating disorders are about being thin
REALITY: Binge eating, which is also an eating disorder, sometimes consists of eating 10,000 calories in one sitting. Binge eating sometimes results in regurgitation.

MYTH: Eating disorders are the society's fault for portraying unrealistic ideas of how a woman should look.
REALITY: Eating disorders can be caused by many factors, including genetic, social, personal, and family.
