Stop Starving: Eating Disorder Myths and Tips disproven

Everybody Knows Somebody: Let's Create Awareness!
The National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) has found that more than 10% of 13-17 year old adolescents have visited a pro-ana website (websites promoting eating disorders). In addition, 32% of this population found the information positive and helpful. After discovering these troubling statistics, we did a little research on these sites and found most of the so-called tips are inaccurate at best, and deadly at worst.

One of NEDA's goals is to bring awareness to eating disorders. The theme this year is "Everybody Knows Somebody". Do you know somebody?? Most people do know someone dealing with this debilitating disease.

Our goal is to dispel the falsities of these pro-ana/mia websites and identify the truth related to foods, drugs, and  techniques to lose weight. Our posts will run every Wednesday until February, when the NEDA holds its week-long awareness function.

Every Wednesday: Eating Disorder Awareness
Next Wednesday: What's the big deal about eating disorder websites?
