Vitamin D and Athletes



What's the deal with vitamin D? Vitamin D levels have a connection to athletes and their performance needs! 


Overview of Vitamin D:
  • Provides balance in the body
  • Decreases risk of chronic disease
  • Improves bone health
  • Improves mood

Vitamin D and Athletes:
  • Decreases risk for injury
  • Decrease risk for upper respiratory infections, such as the common cold or flu
  • Decreases inflammation if injury were to occur

Sources of Vitamin D:
  • Sunlight is the primary source for vitamin D
  • Fish
  • Eggs
  • Fortified foods, such as milk, juice, and cereals
  • Multivitamins
