What's the deal with vitamin D? Vitamin D levels have a connection to athletes and their performance needs!
Overview of Vitamin D:
- Provides balance in the body
- Decreases risk of chronic disease
- Improves bone health
- Improves mood
Vitamin D and Athletes:
- Decreases risk for injury
- Decrease risk for upper respiratory infections, such as the common cold or flu
- Decreases inflammation if injury were to occur
Sources of Vitamin D:
- Sunlight is the primary source for vitamin D
- Fish
- Eggs
- Fortified foods, such as milk, juice, and cereals
- Multivitamins
